Lush Kingdom premiers new products in the East!
“We’re just finding more and more ways to give people things they will enjoy and make the ordinary more cool,” Lush Kingdom founder James Hackett said of the new range of offerings of umbrellas and journals for the brand’s 2017/2018 season. The brand will also be hosting its first East Trinidad pop-up experience on October 27 to 29 at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya.
Hackett said the brand, known for its visually stunning aesthetic, will be moving away from being a cut and sew label and focusing more on prints, basic apparel with pattern and surface design on textile and other new items. It remains focused on visual storytelling and the graphic/illustrative exploration of the Caribbean, with Hackett’s unique vision presenting an alternative tropical voice.
The designer said the response to the event so far has been fantastic, and he’s excited to be pushing the brand to a larger market. “I live in the East, and a lot of the people there aren’t always excited to go to Port of Spain, where our previous popups have been held. We’re talking about people from Central and South and further East who wouldn’t mind coming East if they come up North instead of Port of Spain.”
Hackett said he wants to have fun with the pieces that are on offer and share them with his current client base. “I’m just trying to find my own angle in terms of what I’m doing with my own crazy blend of illustrator, graphic designer and fashion so just kind of merging all those identities into one thing that people will like. The changes made during 2017 have allowed for new creative relationships and exciting opportunities for me to intensely do what I believe we do best. I want to offer exciting, new opportunities for anyone to engage with us.”
