FilmTT Supports Innovative Filmmaking
With a mandate to develop the local film industry through the provision of service and support to local filmmakers, The Trinidad & Tobago Film Company Ltd. (FilmTT), a subsidiary of CreativeTT, successfully hosted the second edition of the Trinidad and Tobago Smartphone Film Festival earlier this year.
According to Jamil Agard, FilmTT’s General Manager (Ag.), “This competition not only encourages experienced filmmakers to experiment with new video technologies but also creates opportunities for aspiring filmmakers who may not have access to high tech film equipment. Creativity and ingenuity come to the fore and so too does the presentation of Trinbagonian content and culture in a succinct yet impactful way.”
Winners of the competition were announced at an awards ceremony held at the Courtyard Marriott on Friday 9th October, 2015. They are:
1st place – Ayesha Jordan, ‘The Good Old Days’
2nd place – Renaldo Frederick, ‘This Connect’
3rd place – Derron Sandy, ‘Refreshed’
People’s Choice - Yannick Weekes, ‘Keep Moving’
Best Music Video – Vaughn Stanford, ‘Good in Love’
Winning productions can be viewed on FilmTT’s Facebook page.
Chief Executive Officer at CreativeTT, Ria Karim, congratulated all winners and reaffirmed CreativeTT’s commitment to harness and develop local talent with the aim of business development and export.
FilmTT would also like to thank this year’s sponsors - Blink Bmobile, Samsung Caribbean, Slam 100.5 FM and KnowledgeTT – whose support has facilitated the success of this event and has also allowed competitions such at this to be a stepping stone for future filmmakers in our country.
