MusicTT Incubator Teams Pitch Commercialized Business Solutions

Port of Spain, 29th January, 2020: The Trinidad and Tobago Music Company Limited (MusicTT) in partnership with Launch RockIt, hosted Startup Weekend: Music Edition from Friday September 27th through Sunday September 29th 2019. Attendants with great ideas or solutions for local music industry problems networked and worked with other talented people to create new business ventures with the potential to scale globally. This Startup Weekend saw 7 teams of entrepreneurs pitch 25 solutions to problems in the music industry to a panel of industry experts. At the end of the weekend, three teams were selected to receive MusicTT incubation and mentorship services facilitated by Launch RockIt to work towards the commercialization of their business solutions from 7th October – 31st December 2019.
On Saturday 25th January, 2020 the three teams: RYPE – A local beats and sounds sample pack distributor; Soca Hub – local soca chart and Caribbean artiste booking agency; and Muse Access – music education for the differently abled presented their minimum viable product (MVP) to MusicTT, mentors, and investors. RYPE is currently working with producers to build its sample pack offering, Soca Hub is currently gaining traction from chart reshares by prominent artistes such as Nailah Blackman and Destra Garcia, Muse Access has engaged with international consultants to build out its educational offering.

Their ideas were all phenomenal, and certainly a start to filling some gaps in our local and regional music sector. MusicTT is looking forward to seeing these ideas flourish and seeing where these businesses are a year from now.”
Startup Weekend is a 54-hour weekend event where groups of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, graphics artists and more pitch ideas for new startup companies. Teams are formed around these ideas that develop working prototypes, demos or presentations by the end of the weekend, while they experience the highs, lows, fun and pressure that startup life brings. As they learn how to create a real company, they’ll meet the very best mentors, investors, cofounders and sponsors who are ready to help them get started.
