On Friday 28th September, the 10 artists of MusicTT’s Artist Portfolio Development Programme (APDP) were treated to an exclusive one-on-one session with Salaam Remi. Each of the APDP artists were presented with an opportunity to perform for Remi who provided direct critical feedback and encouragement. Three of the APDP artists, Shannon Z Francois, Miss Renuka and Chinaka, were also hand-picked by Remi to perform live at Feel the Beat: The Show, a public event hosted by MusicTT and Pinnacle Entertainment which took place that night at Mbar on Ariapita Avenue.
The Artist Portfolio Development Programme, which commenced on November 2017, is an export initiative which focuses on the 10 artists who were evaluated during 2017’s Showcase to be on the cusp of export-readiness but needed specific capacity development in areas such as music business, entertainment law, brand development, music business development, marketing, understanding how to monetize music, IP etc.
“Feel the Beat and the Artist Portfolio Development Programme are two of the many initiatives undertaken by MusicTT to achieve its mandate of stimulating and facilitating business and capacity development within the local music industry by providing local music practitioners with the knowledge and skills to embark on or catapult their music careers successfully,” stated Melissa Jimenez, General Manager of MusicTT. “MusicTT will continue to provide industry-wide strategic direction and action plans toward the development of the music industry as well as guidance and access to music education, especially in the areas of business, monetization of local music and protection of the same.”
